What's the difference between cyclic defrost and frost-free fridges and freezers? Which is right for you? Here are the two main differences between cyclic defrost and frost-free fridges and freezers to help you make an informed choice.

Maintenance

A cyclic defrost refrigerator does not need to be defrosted. However, if the refrigerator has a separate freezer compartment, this will need to be defrosted occasionally.

Energy efficiency

In general, frost-free fridges and freezers are less efficient than cyclic defrost models (but check the energy efficiency rating of the models you're looking at). If cyclic defrost models aren't defrosted regularly, they will become less efficient.
